Abstract

This study presents a high-resolution, multi-instrument analysis of a tri-spherical structure identified within the lunar Webb Crater (0.9°S, 59.8°E). The investigation integrates datasets from optical imaging (LROC), thermal mapping (Diviner), gravimetric field reconstruction (GRAIL), and spectroscopic mineralogy (M³/LIBS).

A novel analytical framework—the Operational Naturalness Paradox (ONP)—is introduced to quantitatively evaluate deviations from expected geological behavior. This framework is operationalized through the Operational Naturalness Tension Index (ONTI), computed via the PVGU Lab v0.7 computational pipeline.

The resulting ONTI value of 0.9631 indicates a statistically significant rupture in natural explanatory models. Under conservative assumptions, this corresponds to a collapse of the null hypothesis, suggesting that the observed structures are consistent with functional metric-engineering artifacts, potentially governed by the Universal Geometric Vibration Principle (PVGU).

1. Introduction: Limits of Classical Lunar Geology

The Moon has traditionally been interpreted as a geologically inert body, with surface features explained through impact cratering and volcanic processes. However, high-resolution orbital data has revealed anomalies that challenge these paradigms.

The Webb Crater configuration—three spherical structures with high geometric precision—cannot be trivially reconciled with stochastic geological formation models. This study reframes lunar analysis through the lens of quantitative technosignature detection.

2. Methodological Framework: The ONTI Engine

2.1 Conceptual Basis

The Operational Naturalness Tension Index (ONTI) quantifies the divergence between observed physical data and expected natural configurations. It is a normalized multivariate metric:

  • ONTI ≈ 0 → Natural consistency
  • ONTI ≥ 0.90 → Statistical rupture

2.2 Multidomain Data Integration

(i) Geometric Symmetry (S)

Sub-pixel analysis of LROC NAC imagery reveals:

  • Mean diameter: 22.73 m
  • Inter-center distance: 45.46 m
  • Symmetry deviation: < 0.31%

This corresponds to a near-perfect equilateral triangle, statistically improbable under random processes.

(ii) Thermal Anomaly (AT)

Diviner data indicates a localized anomaly of approximately 7.95 K, suggesting material properties inconsistent with basaltic regolith.

(iii) Gravimetric Signature (AG)

GRAIL measurements detect a localized anomaly of ~119.78 mGal, indicating subsurface density concentration.

(iv) Chemical/Spectral Composition (ACHEM)

Spectral data reveals the presence of sulfur and elevated ilmenite concentrations, suggesting non-standard material composition.

3. Results: The ONTI Threshold Crossing

ONTI = 0.9631
Status: Operational Naturalness Rupture

This value implies statistical rejection of natural geological origin:

  • p-value < 1.82 × 10-11
  • Null hypothesis: rejected

3.1 Geometric Resonance Factor

A key contribution arises from the harmonic coupling between object scale, spatial separation, and angular symmetry, indicating non-random structural coherence.

4. PVGU Framework: From Geometry to Physics

4.1 Theoretical Foundation

The Universal Geometric Vibration Principle (PVGU) proposes that geometric configurations can actively modulate space-time structure.

Geometry is dynamically coupled to the metric properties of space-time.

4.2 Functional Interpretation

(i) Metric Modulation

The tri-spherical configuration may generate constructive interference, enabling localized curvature modulation.

(ii) Structural Stability

Harmonic resonance may maintain geometric integrity over geological timescales.

(iii) Gravitational Anchoring

The observed anomaly suggests interaction with the gravitational field via metric coupling mechanisms.

5. Cosmological Implications: ΛCDM vs. PVGU

Comparative modeling using nested sampling indicates that PVGU-based formulations can reproduce cosmological expansion through vibrational harmonics.

5.1 Scale Invariance

The same geometric principles may govern both cosmological and local metric phenomena, suggesting a unified framework.

6. Discussion: From Anomaly to Technosignature

The Webb Crater system satisfies key criteria for a technosignature:

  • Non-random geometry
  • Multiphysical anomaly coherence
  • Statistical rejection of natural models

The interpretation as an engineered system emerges as the most parsimonious explanation under current constraints.

7. Conclusion

The Webb Crater tri-spherical system represents a transition from descriptive lunar geology to quantitative technosignature science.

The ONTI value of 0.9631 constitutes a statistically robust rupture, implying:

  • Potential non-natural structures in the Solar System
  • Feasibility of metric engineering
  • A new domain for experimental physics
